Push Doctor. Westbrook Medical Centre now offer video appointments with a Physiotherapist

National guidance from NHS England has mandated that all online booking appointments are suspended across the country. The reason we have done this is that this mitigates any potential risk of infected patients booking an appointment online and attending the surgery.

Instead, all appointments will be triaged in the first instance. Telephone triage is a process that facilitates signposting and the giving of relevant clinical advice. Face to face appointments will be booked when agreed during this triage/initial consultation with either a GP or Nurse. The facility to use online eConsult and requesting prescriptions online is still available to all patients. You will then be rung back by the Clinician who is doing the triage.

As you will be aware the practice uses eConsult and patients are advised to seek advice via this service.

Welcome To Westbrook Medical Centre

Your general practice team are here for you.

We are continuing to provide services as we have been doing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We are prioritising delivery of care and services based on clinical needs. If you need medical advice or treatment, please ring us on xxx or, for non-urgent advice or treatment, visit our website and send us your query – our opening hours are Monday – Friday 8.00am – 18.30pm.

If you need to visit the practice in person, please follow social distancing guidelines and do not attend if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have recently tested positive for COVID-19.

When you phone or go online, you will be asked to provide some information about your healthcare need. This will help the practice healthcare team assess the most appropriate way to provide your care, which may include a face-to-face consultation and ensure it is provided by the most appropriate person.

Face-to-face appointments are available to patients where there is a clinical need. Consultation requests for non-urgent help can be made online. They will be responded to as soon as possible, usually within two working days.

Alternatively, visit the local pharmacy for clinical advice on minor health concerns. For urgent issues or out of hours, you can also call the NHS on 111 or go online to seek NHS advice 111.nhs.uk.

Appointments are being offered face-to-face, by telephone, or using video calls and messaging to your mobile or computer – the practice team will assess what is most appropriate for you and if you have a preference you can discuss this with them.

Attending a face-to-face appointment

If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering. Measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery.

 COVID-19 Vaccination

The NHS is currently vaccinating those people who experts have agreed will benefit from it the most. A vaccination programme of this size and scale will still take some time to complete. Please be assured that everyone who needs the vaccine will be offered it. The NHS will be in touch with you when it is your turn to be vaccinated. Please don’t call us before you are invited. In the meantime, you can get information about the COVID-19 Vaccination online at www.nhs.uk/covidvaccination.

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination status

You can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App from 17 May. You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or by tablet. Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel.

If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 days to reach you.

Do not contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status.

This website has been provided to inform you of how to make the most of the many services that we offer at this surgery. You will find it a very useful guide to our practice. A few moments spent familiarising yourself with this information will help us to give you the best service we can.

    update on surgery

Throughout the pandemic we have tried to make the surgery as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward. From the 19th July nothing will change at the surgery – patients will need to still wear a mask, socially distance, and use hand sanitiser in the surgery and staff will continue to wear PPE. We do understand that it can be frustrating but we know that when people come to us they are sick and vulnerable ( and some cannot receive the Covid vaccinations due to medical reasons) so we feel it would be wrong to not take these small precautions that can protect people. In terms of opening up, we have never been ‘shut’ and in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-covid (face to face , by phone, be eConsult and by video), not counting vaccinating 90% of the adult population twice in the last 6 months. We have come so far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure you understand that we need to keep the surgery as safe for all patients and staff as best we can.
